Wash your Hands!

Hand washing reminders

By now we should all know how to wash our hands. You’ve been told how to wash your hands since you were a young child. Reminders are always a good thing though. We have given you some of the highlights of washing your hands properly. If You have young children at home, watch this great video with them (link found below) courtesy of Canadian Public Health Services.

You should wash your hands when they’re dirty, before we handle food, and before eating of course. Don’t forget after using the toilet, blowing your nose, coughing into your hands or handling pets.

Steps for perfectly clean hands

This is the proper method of washing your hands with regular soap and water.

  1. Remove jewelry such as rings.
  2. Wet hands up to the wrist.
  3. Apply enough soap to cover your hands.
  4. Work soap on your fingers and around and in between fingers and joints for at least 20 seconds.
  5. Dry hands with a clean cloth or paper towel specially to dry thoroughly between your fingers.
  6. Turn that tap off with a paper towel or cloth

HINT* Did you know you 20 seconds is recommended for lathering. Simply sing Happy Birthday to yourself, to meet that 20 second standard.

Ensure that you and your family stay safe and happy during this flu and cold season.
